My name is Eric Jansen. Like my colleague Ayso, I come from a family of doctors and studied in Groningen. After several years of working in the emergency room and in surgery, I started doing the GP training in Utrecht. I completed this in 2007. Since that time I have enjoyed working at several places in and around Utrecht. In the first years as a general practitioner, I also attended the Classical Singing Course at the Utrecht School of the Arts, which I successfully completed in 2013. Since then I have been trying to combine my different interests. In addition, I take care of the home and the family, with a full-time working woman (psychiatrist at the Amsterdam UMC) and three children. In my spare time I often do odd jobs, run or race bikes.
I look forward to welcome you together with my enthusiastic colleagues at our beautiful spot in the old center of Utrecht!
Fenna Schouten
My name is Fenna Schouten, one of the enthusiastic general practitioners at DomstadDokters. 2010 I completed my masters in medical training, aswelll as my masters in clinical research (SUMMA medical master in Utrecht). Next, I completed the training to become a doctor of international health and tropical diseases. I left Holland and worked for several years on the island of Curaçao and consecutively in a very remote hospital in South Africa. I have enjoyed practicing the full spectrum of medicine, the adventure that comes along with being a rural doctor, and the added value you can provide as a rural doctor. Because of this experience, I have gained extensive surgical skill. Just as valuable, I enjoyed living and working in a different culture, where you can be surprised by different perspectives.
I have always been interested in the GP profession. Once back in the Netherlands with husband and children, it seemed nothing but logical to become a general practitioner. In the near future I hope to obtain the LCR certification for giving traveler advice.
Everyone is unique and has their own problems and medical questions. I am curious about your story and your context. For most medical problems, I can give clear advice. Sometimes there will be situations where we have to figure out toghether which possible solutions exist, and which of these fit you/ your situation best. I aspire everyone to feel welcome and heard.
I‘m looking forward to meet you. Welcome to DomstadDokters.
Ayso de Vries
My name is Ayso de Vries (1976) and I grew up in Nijmegen in a GP’s nest. I studied medicine in Groningen and not long after I started a PhD at the radiology department at the AMC. This resulted in a dissertation (2009), after which I trained as a radiologist for several years. This training did not suit me, and after some wanderings I started the GP training in 2014. I did my GP training in Utrecht. The last year of my training I did in the health center Mariahoek aan de Singel (Utrecht center). I have been a general practitioner since the spring of 2017.
For several years I worked with great pleasure as one of the regular GPs in the Mariahoek. Since the summer of 2021, I have founded DomstadDokters together with two enthusiastic colleagues. I enjoy working here. I also work one day a week in a forensic psychiatric institution as a general practitioner.
The diversity of the activities within general practice, the contact with you (or rather “you”) and the customization is the most appealing thing about the profession. In addition, I perform an ultrasound examination of the abdomen, something that I brought back from the hospital.
I have a girlfriend and two young children. I like reading, good food, rowing, racing bikes and running. I also like to travel by bicycle or motorcycle.
