My name is Fenna Schouten, one of the enthusiastic general practitioners at DomstadDokters. 2010 I completed my masters in medical training, aswelll as my masters in clinical research (SUMMA medical master in Utrecht). Next, I completed the training to become a doctor of international health and tropical diseases. I left Holland and worked for several years on the island of Curaçao and consecutively in a very remote hospital in South Africa. I have enjoyed practicing the full spectrum of medicine, the adventure that comes along with being a rural doctor, and the added value you can provide as a rural doctor. Because of this experience, I have gained extensive surgical skill. Just as valuable, I enjoyed living and working in a different culture, where you can be surprised by different perspectives.
I have always been interested in the GP profession. Once back in the Netherlands with husband and children, it seemed nothing but logical to become a general practitioner. In the near future I hope to obtain the LCR certification for giving traveler advice.
Everyone is unique and has their own problems and medical questions. I am curious about your story and your context. For most medical problems, I can give clear advice. Sometimes there will be situations where we have to figure out toghether which possible solutions exist, and which of these fit you/ your situation best. I aspire everyone to feel welcome and heard.
I‘m looking forward to meet you. Welcome to DomstadDokters.
